2009 SEASON

"Dan T. Repeats; Joe Seizes First Points Title"
In nine seasons there had never been a back-to-back champion. That all changed in 2009, when 2008 champion Dan Todd put on another impressive performance and won his second straight title. Dan generated powerhouse numbers all season, drafting solid players like Peyton Manning and DeAngelo Williams and picking up critical free agents like James Harrison and Miles Austin. He was propelled by a 14-game winning streak that stretched from Week 3 through Week 16, another league record. Joe and Paul Shindelus also notched 10+ wins but Dan's grip on first place was never seriously threatened all season as he cruised to the title.

Speaking of the Shindelus'es, they dueled all year for the points title, with the elder Shindelus eventually taking it. Paul held the lead in the race most of the year but Joe's high-powered offense lead by fantasy MVP Chris Johnson, DeSean Jackson, and Steven Jackson caught up rapidly in the final weeks. And in the very last stanza, Joe's team came through and overtook Paul to win the title. For Joe, it was his first points title to go along with two previous records championships.

The league welcomed Chris Turtzo into the fold in 2009, replacing longtime resident and former champion Dennis Foltz. Chris fared acceptably in his first season, finishing 8-9. If nothing else, his decision to draft Maurice Jones-Drew with the #1 pick instead of consensus pick Adrian Peterson provided great message board fodder throughout the season (Chris' decision turned out to be correct). Other highlights included Dan Todd's aforementioned 14-game record winning streak and an unexpected last-place finish from perennial title contender Marc Takenaga.
